Sorry, for various reasons there wasn’t an opportunity for me to post a preview, but I think I can sum things up: four straight losses in all competitions, no goals since the Athletic match (well over 270 minutes of match time), and Valverde’s job may or may not be on the line after a conference this week between him, Roig, and Llaneza.

I will be away tomorrow, but post all match commentary here. No GolTV, but the match should be available on rojadirecta.com. Endavant!

    A toothless performance

  35. Garry says:

Changing the coach really isnt a good choice, our squad isnt really superb at all, that’s what we have to accept, and I doubt if we could attract any other good coach to rejuvenate the team..

I think Escudero should have more playing time to see if he can re-activate the lacklustre midfield, especially the lads (which are more or less the same as last year)can’t function well so far..

btw, orange jersey seems a curse for Diego Lopez.. red-sleeved black one prevents him being netted in this game

  36. rahul says:

valverde lacks decision making. well garry this team on paper is easily a better team than teh pellegrini era so clearly we shud be doing better.

  39. sidarth says:

Well I only saw the last 20 minutes or so, but no surprise here.

The team is in a bad way and shows no signs of breaking out of its slump. Up a man for 75 minutes at home with Senna, Rossi, Nilmar, Cazorla, etc. and you can’t win? Pathetic. And I don’t care if we were playing Barcelona, that’s unacceptable. I am glad that Pires got a chance to show his caliber, but you see the result, so Valverde likely won’t give him the same opportunity in Xerez. Valverde’s choice of scapegoats is very odd (Pires, Escudero, Fuster, Fuentes).

Valverde may not be the entire problem, but he clearly is part of it. I’ll give him one more game, but get a replacement ready. Let him have another two weeks to learn about the team (albeit minus the internationals for most it), but the end is nigh.
