Match Thread/Result: Celta Vigo 1-1 Villarreal

The match starts at noon, and can be viewed on espn360.com. I won’t be able to keep up with it, but if you happen to miss the match (as I will), espn360 stores the video so you can watch replays.
I am still working on the possibility of DC-area fans getting together to watch this weekend’s Almeria match. The problem will come down to whether it is televised, which I am working on. I have spoken with the Babylon Futbol Cafe (Arlington area) on the recommendation of Sidarth, and if the match is on, we are planning to get together there. Those of you in the DC area, set aside a couple of Saturday hours and (possibly!) join us. I will keep updates flowing on that here.

0-1, 27′. Llorente scored Villarreal’s 2nd, but it was wrongly called back for offsides. That quite possibly would have killed off the tie…let’s hope for a second before halftime.
1-1 via fk 4 celta
1-1, 44′. On the stroke of halftime, Celta scores off a free kick. Headed goal by the substitute Arthuro, no surprise to us.
1-1 at halftime. Not a good result on the balance of play, but a 1-2 final would do quite nicely. Even this result is okay, but a 2nd away goal would be very tough for Celta to overcome.
Just saw the highlights, was a great pass from Cani for the goal. Hopefully we can get another!
55′ Bruno comes on for Ibagaza, we haven’t seen the ball this half so it might help!
62′ Fuster comes in for Escudero

Our passing has been absolutely terrible
FT 1-1 Based on the second half it’s an ok result. We were so poor that we could have easily lost it
w/fuster in around 62′ & 4/3/3 vcf didn’t function @ all. bad tactical move. fuster is more suited to 4/5/1
Sounds like an ugly second half. But we will take the result on the balance of play. Certainly the B team did not dominate in their 0:2 victory in Segunda league play, but they played better than this version of the A team. We cannot afford (literally) to lose this tie, so let’s hope for a quick 2:0 scoreline in the return leg next week.
I just watched the game….
1st half half was very good…..bands worked..Cani Rossi, and
somewhat Escudero did their thing…
Llorente had 2 BS offisde calls on him on passes from Rossi…
Anyway,,,,,,, Eguren is a pure Defensive Midlfield ……No creativity like Senna and somewhat like Bruno…………
Oriol did o.k defedning , but did nada to advance the ball.
Ibagaza …didn’t show up for the game…….
or maybe the high pressure style of Valverde doesn’t suit his possession slower game….
I believe will be the last season for him….
2nd Half…Cani did his diappearing act in forward department the attack came to holt… as Ibagaza did nada and Escudero was quite in 2nd..
Valverde 2nd sub was wrong…too early…he panicked to his 4/2/3/1 which did nada for the team………..
THIS game needed Senor Pires more tthan Fuster who did have chance at the end from cazorla………….but shot straight @ the keeper.
Llorente was rendered useless in 4/2/3/1… w/ Rossi pushed to far left and Cani side on the quite side.
Fist half 40 minutes were good……….
