The match should be available on rojadirecta.com.  Add your in-match commentary here.  I might be able to check in, but I will be limited since I am with family I haven’t seen in a year and we are having a late brunch, so we will be reliant on our regular contributors (and anybody new!) to keep up with the match.  Thanks everyone!

ENDAVANT!

Brunch, one of mankind’s greatest inventions.
Another must win game, Zaragoza have been crap all season so we really should be beating them. They have signed Chilean striker Humberto Suazo during the window and he can score. He was top scorer in South American qualifying. Wide right they should have the Englishman Jermaine Pennant, he can deliver good crosses on his day so we shall have to be careful.

  2. Kenez says:

Villarreal should win without problems. Zaragosa are with Tenerife the worst team away having taken only two points in 9 matches scoring only 8 goals. Never have beaten Villarreal in El Madrigal in the Primera.

    Starting team confirmed as:-
    Diego López;
    Ángel, Godin, Marcano and Capdevila;
    Cazorla, Senna, Bruno, Pires;
    Nilmar and Rossi.

Pennant does not start for Zaragosa.

  3. Trixie says:

Let’s hope Zaragoza doesn’t decide to end their streak of losses at El Madrigal today.

  4. Trixie says:

gooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllll! 1-0 Capdevila scores after Cazorla’s shot was tipped onto the post. Excellent way to start.

  5. Nick says:

2′ Goooooooooooooooooooool Capdevila!!! A tap in after a Cazorla shot comes off the post

  6. Trixie says:

2-0 nilmar!!!!!!!! Lovely play for him to get past the keeper to poke it in.

Our movement is better today, even if Zaragoza is crap.

  7. Nick says:

20′ Gooolll! Nilmar with an ice cold finish after outpacing the defence. Great goal!

  8. Nick says:

24′ Nilmar produces an amazing flick in midfield!

  9. Trixie says:

Senna and Rossi hook up to make it 3-0!

  10. Nick says:

    25′ 3-0 Rossi!

  11. Trixie says:

The combination of Pires and Capdevila on the left is working very well today.

  12. Nick says:

35′ Nilmar is playing very well, linking up well with Rossi and displaying a nice array of samba skills!

  13. Trixie says:

If Bruno’s strike from distance had gone in, I would be calling him “Senna 2″

  14. Trixie says:

    HT 3-0: Capdevila, Nilmar, Rossi.

Assists from the post, Capdevila, and Senna, I think?

  15. Trixie says:

Correcting myself: Nilmar’s goal should be assist from Rossi.

  16. Nick says:

Yep it was Senna who dinked it over the top. Zaragoza are woeful, when a team resorts to bringing on Arizmendi to change things you know it’s bad.
I reckon we will see Cani, Escudero and Llorente sometime during the second half

  17. Trixie says:

Arizmendi’s stock has decreased in value greatly in the past couple of years. He looked very promising at one time, now he looks like a candidate to play for a Liga Adelante team.

Hoping to see more goals in the second half, not a sit back and defend type of play. I’m pleased with most everyone today, but still not as confident in Marcano and Angel as I’d like to be.

  18. Trixie says:

    Ibagaza in for Pires 64′
Nice ovation for a well-played game for Pires.

  19. Trixie says:

Senna subbed out, looks like he’s injured. Cani in.

  20. Trixie says:

    3-1 goal by Eliseu

  21. Trixie says:

Momentum has definitely switched in favor of Zaragoza since that goal.

  22. Trixie says:

    Lafita makes it 3-2.

We need to stop sitting back and start attacking again. Our midfield is falling apart.

  23. Nick says:

Gonna be a nervy 7 minutes

  24. Trixie says:

Gonzalo in for angel. 5 minutes left in regulation.

  25. Trixie says:

4-1 GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL IBAGAZA after a great run and play by Nilmar.

  26. Nick says:

Ibagaza!!! 4-2 Great play from Nilmar to set him up

  27. Trixie says:

    (typed 4-1 by mistake LOL)

  28. Trixie says:

    3 min added time.

  29. Trixie says:

FT and we’ve hung on for the win and 3 points.

  30. Kenez says:

Well it was a much needed win but hardly comfortable. Despite being 3 up never controlled the game. Failed to keep a clean sheet against a team that has only scored one goal in the previous four.

  31. sidarth says:

@Kenez: Well, we can’t keep a clean sheet for our lives, so I’m not surprised. Their second goal bothered me: not enough desire to clear the ball. Good for Ibagaza to get on the board, and Nilmar was a constant threat against an awful backline. More of a test next week against Osasuna, another game where 3 points are absolutely vital. Job done, if not well.

  32. Ro says:

I’m so excited about this win…this is just what we needed.

.so, So Sorry to break into the love fest of this site.

    SERIOUSLY Valverdeer’s Villarreal JUST SUCK….
2nd half was PATEHTIC, what was that?

How can valverdder switch to 4-2-3-1 @ 71” when you are up 3-0. That is what causes the already crap Midfield play in the 2nd half even play worse.

Wow, VCF owners must really hate success…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how can you hire this JOKER? He loves 4-2-3-1 and does his best to change into that formation every game and during the game….what JOKE. The teams just doesn’t look motivated to play a good 90″
Too much player politics by Valverdeer .

Rebellion @ Villarreal -> Guess why Pires played today? ….According to reports there is rebellion in the Villarreal Locker room led by Pires. Pires, Ibagaza, Llorente are asking for more playing time, or want to leave.

Pires said he wants to leave this winter, so Senor Valverdeer decided to play the Pellergini Formation and play Pires as LM and sit his Boy Cani on the bench .

    Anyway:
Lopez: Well he’ did well, but he should kick his long balls towards Villarreal players….. I guess he is no longer allowed to pass teh ball with his hand…must be a sin u/valervdeer
Capedvila -> He mostly plays well for Villarreal and scored a goal
Marcano -> I hope Gonzalo finds his old form, because Marcano is not a player who can play a good game for more than 70”….
Ange l-> wow, he’s good reserve player, but shouldn’t be starting.
    Pires
Godin -> He’s played well, he’s the best CD villarreal have
Senna -> played well till 1st half, didn’t show up for the 2nd half.
Bruno -> When Bruno plays well, Villarreal don’t lose…
Cazorla -> he form is good; but get’s frustrated to fast……sloppy plays in the 2nd
I am glad he played RW and not LW
Pires -> he’s tuill got for approx 60″ a game…gald he started over Cani
A Bit of Good news -> First game Nilmar & Rossi played well together….so there is hope they will combine well in other games …

Oh well…sorry again to bring this site to reality……..ciao ciao

  34. kqql says:

Pires -> he’s tuill got for approx 60? a game…gald he started over Cani

    Meant
Pires -> he’s still got it for approx 60? a game…glad he started over Cani

    ciao
