It has been discussed in the comments below, but Santi Cazorla is facing four to five weeks out after tearing his right hamstring.  He is set to miss matches against Osasuna, Mallorca, Bilbao, Madrid, and possibly Deportivo.  As we have already demonstrated, that is not an easy stretch even when at full strength.

David Fuster is recovering from the flu and is expected to be ready to go for Sunday’s match against Osasuna.

Javi Venta is getting close to being back at 100 percent, but is not expected to be ready for Sunday’s match.

In other news, La Liga will shortly begin to play matches on Mondays.  This could be a great thing for those watching in the States, as theoretically it opens up another possible TV slot – and clears up the current mass of matches that starts the Sunday matchday.

Thanks to Kenez, here is the squad for tomorrow’s B Team match against locals Levante:

Keepers: Juan Carlos & Vicente Flor.
Defenders: Mario, Kiko, Musacchio, Carlos Tomás, Catalá & Ángel.
Midfield: Matilla, Natxo Insa, David Lázaro, Felipe Manoel, Jefferson Montero, Hernán Pérez & Cristóbal.
Forwards: Joan Tomás, Gerard & Marco Ruben.

Levante sit in 8th place, three points behind Villarreal B.  The match is in Valencia; hopefully the Villarreal boys will put on a better show than the A team’s last trip south.

Marco Ruben is in the squad.  I hope he will be able to shrug off his disappointment at not making it to England during the break and will come out ready to prove a point.  But, according to some reports, a few English Premiership scouts will be in the stands in Valencia tomorrow.   So that might not be over just yet.

The B team match against Levante is to be shown live on local TV (RTVV, Punt 2) at 18:00 hours ((CET) so there is a fair possibility that there will be some live streams available.

I wouldn’t want to see Papa here, Argentinian full backs are pretty terrible at the minute and he’s one of them. If we want to get a fullback then we have to go Brazilian. Glad Ruben’s staying, hopefully he will have a future at the club. A goal against Levante would do him good.
If there are Prem scouts there then we could expect offers from the likes of Birmingham or Blackburn or maybe even West Ham. His agent may very well be touting him to a lot of mid table Prem clubs.

  3. Nick says:

5′ Juanlu puts Levante 1-0 up, can’t find any streams!!

  4. Nick says:

30′ No real coverage of the game available! All I can do is check the scoreboard. Still 1-0 to Levante. According to ESPN Ruben did start but they’re not always reliable for the Segunda!

  5. Kenez says:

35 min Kiko red card for 2nd yellow

  6. Nick says:

Stupid from Kiko, I know it’s a derby but picking up two yellows in 35 minutes is inexcusable.

  7. Ro says:

A girl I know online that’s a Lazio fan told me that Lazio are sending Eguren back because he failed a medical. Apparently his blood pressure was to high.

  8. Kenez says:

Kiko had a bit of a nightmare. Caught out by a ball over the top for the goal. Late challenge on the halfway line for the 1sr yellow, almost caught out again by another ball over the top that Juan Carlos came out to head. The second yellow was a bit harsh, given for hand ball but the ball hit his arm and was involuntary.

  9. sidarth says:

1-0 Levante at HT; we are down to 10 men. Kiko at it again. Let’s see how the second half plays out.

  10. Kenez says:

Half time. Levante 1-0 Villarreal B

Villarreal have dominated possession but not really troubled the Levante keeper.

  11. Kenez says:

1-1 60min Goal for Marco Ruben

  12. Kenez says:

65 Hernan Perez replaces Gerard Baordas.

  13. Nick says:

Great stuff! Thats a mark of a good pro, does the business even in circumstances like his!

  14. hafiz says:

    remember the scouts

  15. Kenez says:

75 min Carlos tomas replaces Montero. Villarreal continue to take the game to Levante who look nervous despite being a man extra.

  16. Kenez says:

88 min Joan Thomas for Cristobal.

  17. Kenez says:

Full time Levante 2-1 Villarreal B
Levante scored in 94min with last action of the match. Juan Carlos failed to cut out a cross.

    Totally unjust result.

  18. Kenez says:

Confirmed on TV that Eguren has failed his medical and will return to Villarreal. The same has also happened to Fernandes who goes back to Valencia.

  19. hafiz says:

welcome back to the dog house..poor eguren

  20. Trixie says:

Wish I had seen the B team game. Heartbreaking result to fight back and level at 1-1 with a man down (WTF is up with Kiko getting so many cards?) only to lose it on the last minute?

More news coming out about this “failed medical” with Eguren. Seems they have their eye on a Brazilian who is also non-EU. To me, this smacks of a team making up an excuse to cover their mistake.

I was shocked that Lazio , which were willing to pay 700K to Villarreal for 5 months.

Lazio is not that type of club….so no suprise that’s he’s been shipped back to Villarreal……

YO !Eguren !!! Enjoy the DOGHOUSE OF SENOR Valverdeer
don’t forget to fold properly .

  23. Ro says:

    I feel bad for Eguren.

Lotito was going to try and make his dollar spread as far as he could, and unfortunately it was at his expense.

  24. rahul says:

i think we need eguren more than bruno senna n eguren bt valverde is a moron.
anyways i wouldnt mind getting a argentine full back not all r defensively weak, look at ansaldi hes a beast. then heize who was teh worlds best LB at manu but become really bad at real well real tend to make teh worst out of teh best.
n papa is defensively sound. n going forward is excellent wouldnt mind him.
