Updates Abound
Posted by maddi in Club News, Giuseppe Rossi, Injury Update, Javi Venta, Site News, Transfers OutLots of stuff in the news today.
First, as has been noted, you can all put that smile back on your face - Juan Carlos Garrido has been officially named the Villarreal head coach for the next six months. I am sure he will be given an opportunity to stay around if he can move things in the right direction, but right now it is just a temporary gig.
Interestingly, Fernando Roig spoke to the players before officially giving Valverde the axe. I doubt that the conversation was determinative, but it seems pretty clear that Valverde could not have had that much support in the locker room at this point. A number of players had been more or less calling for a change, and it looks like the feeling was at least somewhat widely held.
On less happy news, we have poor, poor Sebastian Eguren. Someone please correct me if I am reading this wrong, but it looks like Eguren is signed with Lazio, but they may have no plans to use him. The Italian team just signed Thomas Hitzlsperger as their apparent efforts to avoid keeping Eguren were in play, and now it looks like Eguren might be hopeless for six months. He will be given an opportunity to get his blood pressure down – if that really is an issue at all – but you have to feel terrible for the guy. Hopefully all of this is rumors and things can work out. I would be happy to see him back at Villarreal, but it looks like that ship might have sailed.
For those of you wondering why Valverde went without Rossi, perhaps that wasn’t all his fault. Apparently Rossi came down with a case of the flu and couldn’t go the full 90. Who knows how having Giuseppe start would have changed the game? It looks like, from the opinion expressed at this site at least, that it might have been the best thing to happen for the club’s future.
Injury-wise, it looks like Javi Venta will be available for the Yellow Submarine when they travel to the island of Mallorca this weekend. His hamstring is getting back to 100 percent, and he hopes to be ready to go.
And as a side note regarding the website, VillarrealUSA is now into its 25th month of existence (if you go into the archives, there are a few posts that I lost due to server problems in the beginning). The site now consists of over 800 posts and over 4,700 comments. Thanks for all of your contributions to the quality of the site! ENDAVANT!

Best Wishes to Valverde
He lacked the skills to manage the style of villarreal…………I knew he was going fail unless he sharpned and ajusted his ways. @ Villarreal……….
Villarreal is not long/punt/no ball possesion club, especially with players in hand ,
plus what was all the he used to make on sideline ……..?
Never exhibited confidence on the sidelines……………………

As I said during the game Valverde needs to make up his mind…go with 2 CM or 1 CM and 1 AM….and starting KIKO over Fuentus on away game was not smart…….
Kiko is good defender ….but this was not the game to give him a start….
The midfield was not functioning well…….and Jony is good provider for assist with his speed when defense are tired, but Llorente would have been the wiser choice vs. physical backline of Osasuna…..
Also, Pires should have been brought in earlier, since Cani was doing so-so ……
Jony scored 5/32 games in la liga in 2008/09
Llorenete 15/32
So what I am missing ……?
Llorente does score as Maddi said vs big Defenders…………
Oh well …. Valverde will have to sharpen his skills……………..
Here is how would have used the 2 subs left.
@ 56? Bring in Pires for Cani
@ 66- -70? bring in Lllorente for Rossi or Nilmar….
The Pellegrini WAY !
^ plus what was all the FACES he used to make on sideline ……..?

RECAP of all the events …of last 48hours….
Encouraging words from Garrido in his first press appearance. He stressed the need to recover he style lost, that happens through ‘being offensive, having the ball, taking the iniciative’. ”We have to go out to win every game from the first minute, whovever the opponent and in whatever situation.”
The LLL take :

so da juan carlos , what style he plays? sorry don’t watch vcf b.
Santi’s adductor injury may be a blessing in disguise: today he was operated on for the herniated disc which kept him out for 5 games earlier this year.

With a healthy Santi and a new outlook, things could be different around the club. Let’s hope he is 100% this time on his return; he never looked it over the past couple of months. I thought he was a bit heavy (a fitness issue due to a long absence), and quickness is critical to his game.
lets be positive this time :)
manolo jimenez and pep guardiola also came from the reserve team.seems like they are doing very well right now.and they brought some of the players from the reserve team into the first team.the likes of pedro at barcelona and perotti at sevilla.look how they have succeed.
lets hope senor garrido will follow the same path.
da fiorentina wanted da loan of da g.rossi. da vcf said no go 4 loan
Spanish Radio station Cadena Ser have reported that Fiorentina had an offer for Rossi rejected over the winter transfer window, and the Viola will battle it out with Juventus for the player’s signature this summer.

Eguren is not listed on Lazio’s roster, or anywhere on their site of that matter, or ours. It said the deal fell through all through out the Italian press. I don’t know what’s going on with him.
It would appear that Eguren is in a state of limbo. He has signed a contract with Lazio but they have not registered him with the Italian League. It looks as they he will not play again until after 30 June 2010. Not what he was expecting to achieve by leaving Villarreal.

Why Would anyone want to go to LAZIO…..?
They have the biggest doghouse in SERIE A……….BAd Move… !
Looks like Eguren was just a replacement of Pandev in Lazio Doghouse …..and will join Ledesma
NOT SMART !……………………. I bet Lazio doesn’t even pay Villarreal….since they will not use him on loan…
Eguren got a 5-6 vacation in ROme…Valverde partying gift to Villarreal…..lol
That’s very good summary by SKYSPORTS !
Villarreal’s new coach Garrido: Players and Staff Must have breakfast & Lunch together at the club.
I know most clubs in PL & Serie A do that…..
–
Also, Cazorla will be out for 6-8 weeks per marca.com
im starting to have faith in him reading his comments.
n hopefully teh bright talents in our B team get teh chance n be moulded in teh A team. thank god valverde is gone and also ruben didnt leave.
I checked on Eguren in Italian media…nothing there…..looks like Lazio never registered him. nor claim that he is their player…he alleged failed his medicals on Jan 28, 2010///// so what was/is doing in Rome ?
I don’t get it…..
Nilmar to Milan for Next Season?
According to Spanish radio Cadena L, Milan Coach Leonardo is interested in Nilmar to replace Huntelaar for 10/11 season.
http://esportes.terra.com.br/futebol/europeu/2009/noticias/0,,OI4243601-EI14095,00-Radio+Espanhola+poe+Milan+como+destino+de+Nilmar+em+julho.html
@kqql: I’m not sure I would call AC Milan wanting another Brazilian journalism, but that’s what I thought would happen at the beginning of the year. Rossi ends up staying because the Italian clubs lose interest after the World Cup and Roig wants a significant profit, so Nilmar goes at a slight profit. I totally could see Valencia acquiring him, but I imagine it would take a king’s ransom. I’m finally starting to see the desire to match his top-level skill, and I think he will flourish under Garrido.
Hopefully he doesn’t break out for another team in La Liga :( .
I think more W/Budgets cuts. coming for 10/11, I see both Nilmar & Rossi likely being sold ( for avergae profit) and B Team fwd E.g Ruben etc being promoted.
Unless Villarreal make CL for 10/11
Milan already have a similar player to Nilmar in Pato, so I couldn’t really see that happening. Huntelaar just sits on the bench so I don’t see how they need a replacement!! Rossi is more likely to go in my opinion. Basically though it all comes down to the Worlds biggest shop window which takes place in South Africa. If they perform the offers will come.
Santi would want to find his form fast when he gets back, if Canales keeps going the way he is then he might get included, Mata is playing very well and Hernandez hasn’t been too bad either. Attacking midfield places are filling up fast!
@ nick. da leo loves da nilmar. duck going 2 da chelsea & nilma then 2 da milan. da g.rossi chance of wc is 50%. strikers playing in da serie a r doing well. g.rossi better pick it up too.
Nobody will be going to Chelsea this summer unless they get their transfer ban lifted.

^^a little update: Chelsea has received word from the CAS. Their transfer ban has been lifted!
@Trixie: Of course, how could a big club be punished? It was just a matter of time before the ban was lifted.
Sid, I wasn’t that confident about it. After the Ashley Cole incident in the past, I wasn’t expecting any leniency for Chelsea.
